A Journey To Eureka

The story Journey to Eureka is about a boy who is on the streets finds a family then realises he has a real family in Australia so he goes there and some bad things and lots of good things happen. It is in the time of the Australian gold rush.

The main character came from Great Britain he went to find his real parents. He got there by first taking a train then a long dark boat ride.

On the goldfields there was lots of shooting and fighting and rebelling against the fines which caused the Eureka Stockade. They faced challenges like misdirection to places in the gold fields and brutal punishments if you had no licence.

On the gold fields people had jobs like farmers, doctors and waiters. If I could have one job it would be farming because they sound like they had it pretty good. They had fresh milk from goats plenty of water and yummy food. Which job would you do?

How To Write A Quality Comment

Commenting is the most important part of blogging because it is how we connect. Commenting drives you to do your best because you know that someone will read it. Also it helps you improve by getting a different perspective through constructive feedback. It is also a great way to make friends. But also a great way for a busy family to get involved with school.

One of the most important parts of a comment is feed back. Because if you makes sure it is constructive it will help the writer know what they can improve on.

When writing a quality comment you have got to edit, edit and edit again. Remember to have capital letters at the start and full stops or exclamation marks at the end of all  your sentences. If you are using exclamation marks you should only write one! If you want to put more simply show it through your writing.

Another very important part of quality commenting is making connections. If someone likes rollerblading and you’ll like it to or that reminds you of something write it! It helps you get to know them more and even strike a conversation. Or if there is nothing to connect about or you don’t know what to write ask a question about something they have written or ask to know more about what they have written.

That’s all for today on quality commenting. Tell me something else about commenting in the comments section below and be sure to leave a quality comment! 🙂

It’s Not Just An Avatar!

Hi everyone I’m evelyn and this is my avatar. I hope you enjoy it! I chose it because I have brown hair and I also love to be happy. I chose the blue jumpsuit because it is something that I would loved to wear. Also I like how there is a circle around it and it isn’t overly complicated.

What does your avatar look like?

Library Reflection

Hi Everyone today I am going to be writing a library reflection.

First of all my favourite genre of books is books that are funny. I like funny books because they keep you entertained while you’re reading. Funny books are always books the type of book that you can’t put down. Have you ever had that book that you have to keep reading? One of my most suggested series is Big Nate. I recommend it because I have told other people about it before and almost all of them ended up reading it and loving it.

At the moment I am reading Liar as a book chat book. It is about a boy who creates an app that tells you if some one is lying or not. But all of a sudden a man starts trying to attack him and kill him and he barely escapes alive. I would recommend this book to kids 10 plus because it is very frightening and may scare younger readers.(Will give you nightmares!)  I like the book so far but it is very creepy and you don’t want to read it in the dark.

Last of all my favourite type of book is graphic novels because they always  show what you’re reading and help you visualise. Suggested  books  include anything by Raina Telgemier like Smile, Ghost, Sisters, Guts and all of the babysitters club books.

What is your favourite genre? Tell me why.

MEET THE CHARACTERS OF THE FRONT DESK

In grade four as part of the global read aloud we have been reading the front desk by Kelly Yang.

Mia: Mia is very brave,I know this because on the first day of school when she was on the way to the library she caught some older kids bullying Jason. Even though she wasn’t very good friends with him she  helped him anyway. She is also very determined because when her mother told her not to make the key she was determined so she did it anyway even after she filed her finger. The only reason Mia came from China to go to America is so her family could be more free.

MR.Yao: Mr.Yao is very untrustworthy, I know this because at the start of her parents promotion he said they could have five dollars per room but after two days he changed the deal to even less. He is also very inconsiderate because his motel has a colossal pool but won’t even let Mia use it. He is also quite mean because multiple times he has threatened to fire them.

Jason: Jason is very bossy and he made sure Mia wouldn’t tell anyone about how they live and work in a hotel. He is also always agreeing with what his dad says even if it’s the wrong thing to do or if he knows it’s wrong.

What do you think of the global read aloud? Why?
